The Grand

Cyril Orchard Group were employed as building surveyors/project managers for The Grand. This is a Grade II listed building situated on The Leas facing the English Channel. This early Edwardian building now requires the internal communal areas to the residential suites to have the fire protection upgraded to meet modern safety standards.

The first phase of the work to the north staircase and atrium included replacement separating doors and provision of new separating doors to the central atrium isolating the north and south staircases.

Due to its Grade II listed status the replacement doors and ironmongery had to be of high standard to match the existing brass door furniture. Much of the ironmongery was specially made by hand to achieve this. The next phase of the work will be to replace the communal areas doors to the south staircase and upgrading of all the residential suite doors.
